π The Westcoast Highway...101
We said goodbye to the beautiful Astoria area and headed south πon Highway
101 toward our next destination—Garibaldi, Oregon. It’s funny to travel Highway
101 in both Oregon and Washington, since I lived just off 101 for most of my
life in California. Back then, we used 101 to travel up and down the state and
I never pictured it “belonging” to other states as well.
π΄ Grandma’s Corner
Restaurant
A quick 20-minute drive brought us to our first stop… food! A road trip
on an empty tummy can be disastrous! We found a cozy little place called Grandma’s
Corner Restaurant. π΅ Nothing sounds cozier than eating at Grandma’s! Inside,
the friendly staff and decorations reminded me of visiting my Grandma Hill’s
house. π π
The menu was pure old-school comfort food. I enjoyed a hamburger steak smothered in onions and bacon, while Todd had a plate piled high with pork
chops and eggs served with biscuits and gravy. π It was the perfect way to start our
short drive to Garibaldi.
Parking was easy for both our truck and trailer, though I had to
laugh—Grandma’s Corner Restaurant is part of a building that also houses a
liquor store and a cannabis shop.π±Now that’s one-stop shopping! π

Garibaldi
Our drive into Garibaldi treated us to wonderful views of the Pacific
Ocean. πSeeing the ocean always makes my heart happy—you don’t realize how much
you’ll miss it until you move away. π We soaked in the salty sea air and the
endless horizon. π
Garibaldi is a charming little community on Tillamook Bay. Our stay was
at the Harborview Inn & RV Park (harborviewfun.com), which is truly unique. The RV park sits on a small peninsula that juts
into the bay. With no fencing or hedges, it felt a little like camping at
Fisherman’s Wharf—open and bustling with activity.
π️ RV Park Adventures
Checking in was a breeze thanks to a friendly young lady at the office.π§But when we tried to fit into our reserved site (Space 10, listed at 47 feet),
it was too small for both the truck and trailer. She cheerfully offered us
three alternatives, and we snagged Site 22—56 feet long with a gorgeous view of
the bay. π
Honestly, in all our travels, rude campers are rare. Most people respect
the quiet hours. But every so often, you get that one person who thinks
the rules don’t apply to them. π
πΆ Exploring Our New
“Home”
Once we were settled, we went for a walk around our little peninsula
“neighborhood.” On one side was the Garibaldi Marina, on the other the U.S.
Coast Guard station. π£ In between were a couple of restaurants, crabbing docks,
and—of course—a whole lot of seagulls. ππ
Rascal loved all the new smells, and we enjoyed the atmosphere of this
open campground. Despite the unusual setup, it quickly became one of our
favorites—we’d definitely stay again!
Just steps from our trailer was a great walking path. Rascal and I
followed it one day all the way to a set of train tracks… but that story will
have to wait for Part Two. ππΎ

That pig mama feeding her babies at Grandma's Corner aught to be ashamed! Wasn't there a pumping room? I'd so offended!
ReplyDeleteAren't you the delicate little flower! Ha! Silly boy. She's probably more offended that I had bacon on my hamburger steak!
